Beach and Sunset!!!   Mela!

Yesterday was another lazy day in my retirement simulation experiment.  I’m scoring very high…my grades are excellent!

With the waves from the north persisting and making Mellieha Bay an unpleasant experience, we packed up and drove across the country (3.9kms!) to Golden Bay which is southerly facing.  We’re becoming quite adept at sitting in the sun and drinking Mojitos…it’s not a bad life.  We did purchase an umbrella a few days ago though, because the Maltese sun is akin to crawling in the oven and broiling at 125.  The only relief is to jump in the water which is still a tad cold, and as our friends the Killingers will know, anything below 85 just doesn’t cut it.

Later in the evening we ventured back cross country to view the sunset.  Turns out, we weren’t the only ones with the same idea, but we did manage to find an isolated spot away from others.   Here are some pics as the sun set below the horizon.

You’ve seen in previous posts discussion and photos about the Maltese boat, the “luzzu”.  This morning, this one was coming back from a morning fishing excursion.  I saw it leave before 6am…it came back around 8 or 9.  Listening to it chugging it’s way into the bay brought back memories.

  1. Sounds so relaxing. Love the sound of the boat coming in. 🙂
The girls thought it was amazing that the other side of the country is only 4km away. Haha!
