Marsaxlokk (Part II) and Dingli Cliffs

On Sunday, we ventured back to Marsaxlokk as the boys didn’t see it the first time around.  We also swung by the Dingli cliffs on the way home.

Marsaxlokk

This is a pretty cool town and we wanted the boys to experience the fish market and the sight of the many luzzis (Maltese fishing boats) in the bay. Pour intention was to have a fish lunch at a local restaurant but that was pushing our stay longer than the boys were willing to endure.  But they still enjoyed the market, especially the eels and the live octopi.

Dingli Cliffs

Malta is essentially tilted a bit, the east side is full of bays fishing villages whereas the west coast is elevated, producing some pretty dramatic cliffs.  The Dingli cliffs are cliffs near the town of…Dingli.  Mela! (Mela is my favorite Maltese word, it has a number of meaning such as ‘of course’, ‘ok’, ‘so’, or as I like to say, ‘if not, then what?’).  You hear it about 2-3 times in every conversation, but I never tire of it.

The cliffs are impressive live…they are quite high.  We didn’t get right to the edge of the lower cliffs by the water…we’ll venture to do that when we visit Gozo on Tuesday.

Today was a lazy day…school work in the morning, and then we headed to Paradise Bay beach in Cirkewwa in the afternoon.  It’s a great beach, we shared pics in an earlier post.
